Context Sensitive Help
======================
Artisoft Exchange on-line Help is now context sensitive. From any
window or dialog box, press F1 to get instant Help. Once you're in
the Help window, you can use the jump, browse and search features
to see other Help topics.
Logging In to Mail
==================
When you're not using LANtastic accounts for Artisoft Exchange,
mail users must enter a username and password to log in to their
mail account. For information on what to type in the log-in fields,
press F1 when the log-in screen is visible.
When you're already logged in to Artisoft Exchange Mail, you don't
need to type in a password (if one is set) to enter Artisoft
Exchange Scheduler. The same rule applies if you're logged into
Artisoft Exchange Scheduler and want to use Artisoft Exchange Mail.
Important! In order to use Artisoft Exchange, you must be logged
in to the Post Office computer.
Log-In Error Messages
---------------------
Some of the error messages described in the Artisoft Exchange
User's Manual have changed slightly. The steps for correcting
these errors remain as described in the manual.
One message has changed completely. The old message which read:
"Personal directory path is invalid or read only"
now appears as follows:
"Local Temp Directory Path is Invalid."
Other common error messages are described below.
Artisoft Exchange Mail is not in server mode
You can't choose the Post Office icon or run MTAEXEC on a
computer running in Client mode. Follow the steps for setting up
the Server later in this file, then choose the Post Office icon,
or run MTAEXEC.
Message Store Directory Path is Invalid
You may get this message if you're using a mail Server. If you
see this message, make sure you're logged into the server
computer. See your LANtastic manuals for information on logging
in to servers. If this doesn't correct the problem, follow the
instructions given for correcting this error in your Artisoft
Exchange User's Manual.
Searching for Objects
=====================
When you search for an object, you can use wildcard characters
such as ? or *. To search for one of these characters, precede
it with a backslash. For example, if you want to search for a
wildcard account, you could type /* in the search box.
Note: Artisoft Exchange Mail will search for an exact match of what
you type in a Search box, unless you place an asterisk (*)
at the beginning and end of the search string.
To search for a message based on what's in its Subject box, use
the extended search criteria features described under "Searching
for Objects" in your Artisoft Exchange User's Manual.
Printing through the Fax Printer Driver
=======================================
When you install Artisoft Exchange, a fax printer driver
(ARTFAX.DRV) is copied into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. New
instructions for sending a fax appear below. Instructions can also
be found in "Printing through the Fax Printer Driver" in the How Do
I? section of on-line Help for Artisoft Exchange Mail.
Sending a Fax through Artisoft Exchange Mail
--------------------------------------------
1. Create a new message, or open an existing one.
2. Choose Print from the Message menu. The Print Setup window
appears.
3. In the Print Setup window, choose Specific Printers. Choose
the arrow to the right of the Specific Printers box to pull
down a list of available printer drivers.
4. Select Artisoft Fax Printer Driver.
5. Choose OK to send the fax.
Sending a Fax from Other Windows Applications
---------------------------------------------
ARTFAX.DRV is a Windows printer driver. You can use it from
other Windows applications, such as Microsoft Word. The steps below
assume that you've selected the fax printer driver to be the
default printer driver for your computer. See your Windows
documentation for instructions.
If you have a CAS-compatible fax modem installed on your computer:
1. From the application, choose Print. The Options window
appears.
2. In the Options box in the upper left, choose either Local or
Mail.
- If you choose Local, the fax is sent directly through the
fax modem on your computer.
- If desired, fill in the To and Phone boxes in the
Local Send Information box. The information in the
From and Logo file boxes was set up when you
installed the CAS manager software. The subject
contains the application and the name of the file.
- Choose OK to send the fax.
- If you choose Mail, the fax will be attached to an
Artisoft Exchange Mail message, which you can send to a
fax address or other address.
- Choose OK to bring up the Artisoft Exchange Mail
log-in screen.
- Follow the instructions in your Artisoft Exchange
User's Manual for addressing and sending a message.
To send the message as a fax, send it to a fax
address.
If you have a fax modem installed on the mail Server computer:
1. From the application, choose Print.
2. The printer output is printed to a file, which is then
attached to an Artisoft Exchange Mail message. (Before you see
the message with the print file attached, you may have to log
in to Artisoft Exchange Mail.)
3. Follow the instructions in your Artisoft Exchange User's
Manual for addressing and sending a message. To fax the
message, send the message to a fax address.
To use a fax modem installed on the mail Server computer, the mail
administrator must have set up a Fax Gateway on the server.
Note: You may not use the fax printer driver across the network; it
must be located in the Windows directory on the local
computer.
